Slow, strong, and never more than ten.
Tidepool is a small reformer Pilates and yoga studio two streets up from the water. Ten reformers, a quiet mat room, and classes small enough that your teacher can watch every move.
- 10reformers in one bright room
- 10people at most in any class
- 6intro classes every week
Everyone starts with the intro.Intro to Reformer: six people, 50 minutes, $30.
Reformer, mat or yoga?
They work well together, and most of our regulars mix all three. Here is the plain difference, so you know what you're signing up for.
-
Reformer Pilates
A sliding carriage, springs and straps. The springs can add load or help you through, so one move can be hard or kind. Most people feel it in their legs and middle the next day.
-
Mat Pilates
The same ideas with your own body weight, a ring, a ball and a band. Harder than it looks, because there are no springs helping you.
-
Slow and restorative yoga
Unheated, unhurried yoga with time to breathe, and a restorative class that is mostly supported rest. Good for stiff hips, busy heads and the day after a hard reformer class.
Everyone starts with Intro to Reformer
Even if you've done Pilates for years somewhere else, and even if you mostly plan to come for mat or yoga. Reformers differ, springs differ, and we'd like to see how you move before you join a class of ten.
- Send an intro requestTell us your days and anything we should know. We reply within one working day with a time.
- Come ten minutes earlyGrip socks on, shoes and phone in a cubby. We set a reformer to your height.
- Fifty minutes, six peopleThe carriage, springs, footbar and straps, taught slowly with plenty of pauses.
- Then choose what's nextOpen Level, Slow Flow, mat or yoga. Your teacher will tell you honestly which fits.
Ten reformers. Ten people. That's the limit.
We built the room around one number. With ten carriages your teacher can cross the room in a few steps, check your springs, and offer an easier or harder version of a move before you need to ask.
Mat and yoga classes stop at ten too, even though the room would fit more. Intro classes are smaller again: six people.
Six minutes up from the SeaBus
We're on Shipwright Lane in Lower Lonsdale, a short walk from Lonsdale Quay. Come for a class and take the long way home along the water.
If you have a health condition or an injury, or you are pregnant, please check with your doctor before your first class. Our teachers adapt exercises, but they don't treat injuries.
