How online sessions work
Video on one side, a shared whiteboard on the other.
No commute, no waiting room. A laptop at the kitchen table is enough.
The session
Both of you hold a pen.
Your tutor appears on video beside a whiteboard you can both write on at once. Upload a photo or PDF of a worksheet and it drops onto the board, so you work on the actual question your teacher set.
At the end, the board is saved as a PDF and sent to the student, every step included.
REC · only with a parent's okay
Recordings, on your terms.
- Who decides
- A parent or guardian, in writing, before the first recorded session. No okay, no recording.
- Who sees it
- The student and the parent, through a private link. Nobody else, and never for advertising.
- How long
- Thirty days, then it's deleted. Ask sooner and we delete it the same day.
- Off switch
- Turn recording off for one session or for good, any time, with a text or email.
Scheduling across time zones.
We teach Monday to Thursday from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Pacific time. Students in Ontario and further east usually book the earlier slots.
The trial form asks for your time zone, and every time we send you is written in your local time.
| Where you are | Your time |
|---|---|
| Vancouver, Victoria | 4:00 p.m. |
| Calgary, Edmonton | 5:00 p.m. |
| Winnipeg | 6:00 p.m. |
| Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal | 7:00 p.m. |
| Halifax, Moncton | 8:00 p.m. |
| St. John's | 8:30 p.m. |
What the student needs.
- A laptop or desktop. Chromebooks work. A phone screen is too small for the whiteboard.
- A camera and a microphone. The built-in ones are fine; headphones help in a busy house.
- A steady internet connection and a browser: Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.
- The material. The worksheet, test outline or textbook pages for the topic.
- A stylus and tablet or a drawing pad. Optional Many students write with a mouse, or hold their paper up to the camera.
We send the session link the day before. Click it a few minutes early the first time so we can check sound and camera together.
