Accessibility statement

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible orange or dark focus outline.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast. On orange backgrounds we use dark text, never white.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones, like the mountain line, are hidden from screen readers.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
• Prices and decking materials are in real tables with captions and row and column headers, so a screen reader can read them cell by cell.
• The project timeline bar has a text description, and the sample schedule lists its weeks and status as text, not only as bars.
• The questions on the additions page open and close with a keyboard and are announced as expandable.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• The pages reflow on narrow phone screens without sideways scrolling.
• The small scroll movement stops when your device asks for reduced motion, and nothing is hidden until you scroll.

Known limitations

The photographs are illustrative, and their descriptions are brief rather than detailed. Wide tables scroll sideways inside their own box on small screens. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell us.
