KitchensKitchens planned down to the drawer.
From a refresh that keeps your layout to a full rebuild with a wall removed: what's included, what it usually costs here, and how many weeks you'll be without a sink.
What every kitchen includes
Whatever the size, the same things happen in the same order. Nothing on this list is an extra.

- PermitsA building permit pulled where the work needs one: moving walls, plumbing or venting.
- ProtectionDust walls, floor protection, daily cleanup and disposal.
- Rough-inPlumbing, wiring and venting by our regular trades, inspected before walls close.
- Walls and ceilingsInsulation where open, drywall, primer and two coats of paint.
- CabinetryInstalled, levelled and adjusted, hardware included.
- Counters and backsplashTemplated once the cabinets are set, so they fit what was built.
- LightingPot lights, under-cabinet lights and pendants as drawn.
- FlooringNew, or patched to match where cabinets moved.

What kitchens cost in Waterloo Region
Most kitchens land in one of these three ranges. They include design, permits, materials and labour, before HST.
| Type of job | What it usually means | Typical price | On site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refresh | Same layout. New cabinets or doors, counters, sink, backsplash and lighting. Appliances kept. | $28,000 to $45,000 | 3 to 5 weeks |
| Full remodel | Same footprint, everything new, wiring and plumbing brought up to code where walls are open. | $55,000 to $90,000 | 6 to 9 weeks |
| New layout | Sink or range moved, an island added, often a wall opened with an engineered beam. | $85,000 to $140,000 | 8 to 11 weeks |
A full remodel, week by week
This is the usual shape of a nine-week job. Yours comes with real dates, and you sign it before demolition. Terracotta bars are waits we don't control: the city inspection and the counter fabricator.
Cabinets usually take six to ten weeks to make. We order them when you sign and they are in our shop before demolition, so that wait happens while you still have a kitchen.
Six things that decide where you land
- Cabinet construction
- Stock boxes with custom doors, semi-custom, or fully custom. The biggest single line on most kitchen quotes.
- Moving the sink or range
- New drain routes and gas lines mean opening floors and a permit. Leaving them where they are saves real money.
- Walls
- A load-bearing wall adds an engineer, a beam and posts, and usually $12,000 or more.
- Counter material
- Quartz sits in the middle. Quartzite, marble and large porcelain slabs cost more to buy and to fabricate.
- Venting
- A hood ducted out through a brick wall costs more than one run through a nearby joist bay.
- Old wiring
- Knob-and-tube or a full panel has to be dealt with before a new kitchen can be powered.
