Care and repairs

Adjustments and small repairs, usually while you wait.

Glasses slide, loosen and bend. Most of it takes us ten minutes or less, and frames bought somewhere else are welcome at the counter too.

Everyday care

Most scratches come from cleaning, not dropping.

Do

  • Rinse under lukewarm water first, to lift grit off the lens.
  • Use a drop of plain dish soap, then dry with a clean microfibre cloth.
  • Take them off with both hands, so the temples stay even.
  • Keep them in a hard case at night and in a bag.

Don't

  • Wipe dry lenses with a shirt, tissue or paper towel.
  • Leave them on a car dashboard: heat can warp acetate and craze coatings.
  • Push them up onto your head, which stretches the fit.
  • Use household glass cleaner on coated lenses.

If a frame breaks

Before you reach for the glue.

  1. Keep every piece

Even the tiny screw. A missing part is often the only thing between a repair and a new frame.

  2. Don't glue it

Superglue on acetate or a hinge usually makes a frame impossible to repair properly.

  3. Bring it in or call

We'll tell you on the spot whether it's a screw, a part from the maker or a new front.

  4. Price first, then order

Maker parts usually take two to four weeks. We confirm the price with you before ordering anything.
