Your first visit, start to finish
About an hour, no homework beforehand. Here is what to bring and what happens.
What to bring
- Insurance detailsCard or a photo of it, and the plan holder's date of birth
- Your medicationsA list, or the bottles, including vitamins and inhalers
- Recent X-raysIf your last dentist took them in the past year, we can ask for copies
The first visit, step by step
- 10 minutes
Forms at the front desk
Arrive ten minutes early. We fill in your health history together on a tablet at the desk, so you can ask about anything that's unclear.
- 5 minutes
A chat in the chair
Tell us what's bothering you, what worries you, and how past visits went. Nervous? Say so; we'll go slower and explain more.
- 10 minutes
X-rays if needed
Usually bitewings, sometimes a panoramic. We skip what your last dentist already took.
- 20 minutes
Exam and cleaning
A dentist examines teeth, gums and bite. Most first visits include a cleaning with a hygienist.
- 10 minutes
Your plan, in plain words
What we found, what's urgent and what can wait, with costs and what insurance may cover. You decide; nothing is booked unless you agree.
Why the forms happen at the desk
We don't email health forms or ask you to download anything. Health history is private, and it's easier to get right in person, with someone who can explain why we ask about blood thinners or heart conditions.
If you need a translator, a quiet room or extra time, tell us when you book.
