What to do right now

Knocked-out adult tooth

  1. Hold it by the top, not the root.
  2. Rinse gently in milk; don't scrub.
  3. Put it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in milk.
  4. Call us. Within an hour is best.

Toothache

  1. Rinse with warm salt water.
  2. Floss gently around the tooth.
  3. Take a pain reliever you normally use, as the label says.
  4. Never put aspirin on the gum.

Broken or chipped tooth

  1. Save any pieces.
  2. Rinse your mouth with warm water.
  3. A cold compress on the cheek helps swelling.
  4. Cover a sharp edge with sugar-free gum.

Lost filling or crown

  1. Keep the crown in a small bag.
  2. Chew on the other side.
  3. Pharmacy temporary cement can cover the spot for a day or two.
  4. Call us for the next opening.

Asking for a same-day visit

Phone is fastest: our front desk sees the day's openings and can hold one while you talk. You can also send a request online and choose "Urgent"; we read requests through the day, and we call you back to offer a time.

An urgent exam is usually $70 to $120, plus any X-ray or treatment we agree on together.
