Accessibility statement

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada's accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

• A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible two-colour focus outline that shows on dark and light backgrounds.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page. The folder tabs at the top of each section are real headings.
• Words in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu are marked with their language, so screen readers can read them correctly.
• The example figures and office hours are real tables with row and column headers, and checklists are plain lists.
• Questions and answers use standard expandable sections that work with a keyboard and screen readers.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• The page layout works at 400% zoom and on small phone screens without scrolling sideways.
• The one small slide-in effect stops when your device asks for reduced motion.
