Adults
Most adults come in about the neck, shoulders or back, or the stiffness that builds up from long hours at a desk, behind the wheel or in the garden. We ask about your work and your week, because that often shapes what we suggest.
A visit can include:
- Hands-on adjustments to the spine or other joints, explained before we do them
- Low-force options, with slow, gentle pressure or a small hand-held instrument, if you'd rather not be adjusted
- Work on the muscles around a stiff area
- Two or three stretches for home, shown in the room and written down for you
Your family doctor first ifit started after a fall or an accident, comes with numbness, weakness, fever or weight loss you can't explain, or is new and getting worse quickly. We'll tell you plainly if we think a doctor should see you before we do.
Seniors
Many of our patients are in their seventies and eighties. Visits are a little slower, the table lowers to chair height, and someone is always there to help you on and off it.
What a visit involves
Mostly low-force techniques and gentle movement of stiff joints. Hands-on adjustments only if they suit you and you want them. Side-lying or seated positions if lying face down is uncomfortable.
Small, practical stretches
A few simple movements for getting out of a chair, into the car or down to the garden bed, chosen with you so they fit your day. We keep the list short enough to actually do.
Your doctor first
After a recent fall, with new dizziness or weakness, or if you take blood thinners or have been told you have osteoporosis, please talk to your family doctor before booking. We ask about these at the first visit too.
Pregnancy
We see people at any stage of pregnancy, as long as your midwife or doctor knows you're coming. Many first visit in the second or third trimester, when the extra weight starts to change how they stand, sit and sleep.
- A pregnancy table with a section that opens for your belly, so lying face down stays possible later on
- Side-lying positions for the later months, with plenty of pillows
- Gentle low-force techniques for the pelvis and lower back
- Stretches for home, and ideas for setting up pillows to sleep on your side
Call your midwife or doctor, not us, ifyou have bleeding, cramping, leaking fluid, sudden swelling, a bad headache or a change in your baby's movements. These need your care provider right away.
What we don't do
- Babies and young childrenWe see grown-ups only. Your family doctor can suggest someone for younger patients.
- X-raysWe have no X-ray equipment. If imaging might help, we'll explain why and you can raise it with your family doctor.
- PromisesWe don't promise results or sell blocks of visits. We say what we suggest, check in as we go and stop if it isn't helping.
