Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website and reach us.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada's accessibility laws.
What we have done on this website
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast. Our buttons use a deeper tomato red than our logo so white text on them stays readable.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
- The dietary badges (V, VG, GF, DF) are read out in full words by screen readers, and their meanings are written out on the allergens page.
- The weekly menu is a real table with row and column headings. On small screens it scrolls sideways inside its own box, which you can reach with the Tab key and scroll with the arrow keys.
- Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers. The example box labels are written as text, not pictures.
- A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
- Every form field has a visible label, related fields are grouped with a heading, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
- The one entrance animation stops when your device asks for reduced motion.
Reaching us without the form
You never have to use the online form. Call or text (555) 555-0107, or email hello@desksidelunch.example, and we will take your order with you.
Known limitations
Our printed box labels are small. If someone on your team needs a large-print label, or the ingredient list for their lunch by email, tell us when you order. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell us.
