Garden design & planting · Calgary
Gardens that suit a prairie summer
We design and plant perennial borders, native prairie gardens and drought-tolerant yards that come back after a chinook winter, and keep flowering from the first crocus to the last aster.
Consult walk $175, credited to your planting plan.
Three things we do, and do carefully
We stay small on purpose: one design team, one planting crew, and a season calendar we don't overbook. Patios, tree work and irrigation installs go to trades we trust.

Garden design & planting
Perennial borders and full front or back gardens, drawn by hand to scale and planted by our own crew.
Plans and fees -
Native & drought-tolerant gardens
Prairie natives, xeriscape beds, pollinator corners and front lawns turned into something that needs far less water.
Why natives work here -
Seasonal garden care
Spring cut-back, a mid-summer edit and a fall tidy, for the gardens we planted, so they settle in the way we drew them.

How we start
The consult walk
Every garden starts with the two of us walking your yard, notebook in hand. It takes about ninety minutes and ends with a plan you can keep, whether or not we plant it.
We walk the yard
Where the sun lands at noon and at six, where snow piles up, where the soil is clay, and how you actually use the space.
A plan, drawn by hand
Within three weeks you get a scale drawing of the beds, with every plant group numbered and placed.
Plants by season of bloom
A plant list sorted by when each one flowers, so you can see colour from April to October before anything goes in.
Planting day
Our crew prepares the soil and plants it, or you plant it yourself from the plan. Either way the plan is yours.
$175 for the walk, taken off the price of your planting plan.

A Calgary season, plant by plant
This is the kind of chart that comes with every plant list. These eight are favourites we use often in sunny front yards; each bar shows its usual flowering window here.

Windows shift a week or two with the spring. A late May snow can push everything back.
Spring walks fill up by March
We plant from late May, after the last frost, until mid-September. Book a walk this winter and your plan is ready before the garden centres open.
