Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website and reach us.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada's accessibility laws.
What we have done on this website
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a thick orange focus outline you can see.
- Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast, including text over the photo at the top of the home page.
- Buttons, links and form fields are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
- Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative shapes are hidden from screen readers.
- A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
- The fee and weather tables have proper row and column headers. On a narrow screen they scroll sideways inside their own box, so the page itself never does.
- Colour is never the only signal: volunteer roles are marked with a shape and a word, and every season is named.
- Every form field has a visible label, says in words whether it is required, and the result of sending a form appears on the page in words.
- The only animation, the trail markers on the home page banner, does not run when your device asks for reduced motion.
Reaching us without the forms
You never have to use an online form. Call or text (555) 555-0158, email hello@opentrail.example, or come by the gear room at 120 Larchwood Street, and we will take your request with you.
