Room to talk, for couples and families.

When home has gone tense or quiet, it helps to have one evening a week where everyone gets heard. We are two therapists who work only with couples and families, and we keep our hours after work and school.

  • Monday to Thursday evenings
  • In person or by video
  • 50 or 80 minute sessions

Who we see

Two kinds of work, nothing else.

Lantern is E.M. and R.N., two therapists sharing a second-floor office near Old Market Square. Keeping to couples and families means the room, the hours and the way we run sessions are all built for more than one person talking.

Couples

  • The same argument, again and again
  • Rebuilding trust after a hard stretch
  • New parents who barely see each other
  • Pre-marriage sessions before the big day
How couples sessions work
Three people walking together along a path through tall dry grass under a wide sky

Families

  • Parents and teens who can't talk without fighting
  • A family adjusting to a move, a loss or a new partner
  • Co-parenting after a separation
  • Sessions with everyone, or just the adults first
How family sessions work

The first session

Nobody has to arrive with the right words. Most people start with "I don't know where to begin," and that is a fine place to begin.

Who comes
Both partners, or whichever family members you choose. We can start with the adults.
How long
50 minutes, or 80 if you would like more room on the first evening.
What we ask
What brings you in now, what you have tried, and what a better week would look like.
What you leave with
A plain sense of how we would work together, and no pressure to book a second time.

Evenings and online

Hours that fit after work and school.

Most couples and families can't all leave work at two in the afternoon. So our sessions run into the evening, and anyone in Manitoba can join by secure video from home, from two homes, or from a parked car on a lunch break.

When sessions run

Start here

A free 15-minute call, before anything else.

Talk to one of us by phone or video. You tell us roughly what is going on, we tell you honestly whether we are a good fit, and if we are not, we suggest who might be.

  • No cost, no commitment
  • One or both of you can be on it
  • We'll find an evening that works

What we refer out

Some work belongs with someone else. When it does, we tell you on the first call and help you find the right person.

  • Individual, long-term therapy for one person
  • Custody or parenting assessments
  • Reports or letters for court
