Payroll
Monthly or bi-weekly payroll for small teams: pay worked out with the right deductions, source deductions remitted by the 15th, and the T4s, T5s and ROEs that follow.
- $65 a month
- plus $6 per employee per run
Payroll runs
A few days before payday you send hours or any salary changes on the payroll sheet we set up for you. We work out gross pay, CPP, EI and income tax, send each employee a pay stub, and give you the deposit amounts. Pay goes monthly or every second week; bi-weekly gives you 26 pay days a year, so two months have three.
| Base fee | $65.00 |
| 1 run × 3 × $6 | $18.00 |
| The month | $83.00 |
| Base fee | $65.00 |
| 2 runs × 5 × $6 | $60.00 |
| A two-run month | $125.00 |
Fees are before HST. A three-run month in the second example comes to $155.00.
Source deductions
What's withheld from each paycheque, plus the employer's share, goes to the CRA by the 15th of the following month for most small employers. We work out the remittance and tell you the amount and the date; you pay it from your business account.
| Deduction | From the employee | The employer adds |
|---|---|---|
| CPP contributions | Withheld from pay | An equal amount |
| EI premiums | Withheld from pay | 1.4 times the employee's amount |
| Income tax | Withheld from pay | Nothing |
T4 and T5 slips
By the last day of February we file a T4 slip for everyone you paid during the year, with the T4 summary, and get copies to your employees. If your company paid dividends to its shareholders, the T5 slips and summary go in by the same day. For owners, this is where the company side and your personal return meet, so it's done by the same person.
Records of Employment
When an employee leaves, goes on parental or medical leave, or is laid off, a Record of Employment (ROE) is issued through Service Canada's ROE Web, generally within five calendar days after the end of that pay period.
What we need from you: the last day worked, the reason, and the final pay including any vacation pay owed.
