Accessibility statement

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• Light text on a dark background, with white, lime and sky blue text checked for AA contrast. Dark text on the coloured stickers and panels.
• The fee table is a real table with row and column headings, so a screen reader reads each price with its name.
• The questions open and close with the keyboard, and the open or closed state is announced.
• The route between the hall and the two schools is written out as text. The chalk arrows and drawings are decorative and hidden from screen readers.
• Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content or scrolling sideways, including on a phone.
• Animation stops when your device asks for reduced motion.

Known limitations

The descriptions of photographs are short rather than detailed. The “Before school, After school, Before and after” choices on the request form are styled buttons built on standard radio buttons, so they work with a keyboard and a screen reader. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell us.
