Accessibility statement

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What this website does

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a strong two-ring focus outline that shows on red, yellow, black and white.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast. Where yellow sits on red, it is only used for very large lettering.
• Buttons, menu items and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• The giant section words (Mice, Wasps, Prices and the rest) are decoration and are hidden from screen readers. A real heading sits next to each one.
• The price board is a plain list, not a picture: each job, its price and what it covers are read together, in order.
• The barn plan and the area sketch map each have a text description, and the same facts are written out in the page text.
• The questions open and close with a keyboard and announce whether they are open.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• Animation stops when your device asks for reduced motion.

Known limitations

The photographs are illustrative, and their descriptions are brief rather than detailed. The barn plan and the sketch map are simple drawings and are not to scale. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell me.
