Vehicle transport

Each car loaded the way it needs

A 1960s roadster, a long-range EV and a sedan that has not started since spring all ride the same deck, but they do not go on it the same way. Here is how we handle each.

Chrome, original paint and old suspension: the reasons we never strap by the frame.

Classic and collector cars

Held by the tires, never by the frame

Chains on a frame pull a car down against its springs for the whole trip. On an old car that can bend brackets, crack paint at the seams and leave marks on the underside. We hold classics only by their wheels.

  • Soft wheel nets or over-tire straps on all four wheels
  • Winched on at walking pace, the engine stays off
  • A fitted car cover on request, for rain or road grit
  • Blankets on the door edges while we strap down
  • Photos of every panel at pickup and drop-off

EVs and low cars

A low front lip and a heavy battery, both planned for

Our decks tilt to a shallow angle, and we carry ramp extensions and wood blocks so a sports car or lowered car comes up without scraping. EVs always ride with all four wheels on the deck: towing one on two wheels can damage the motor, so we do not do it.

Non-running vehicles

Cars that will not start, steer or roll

A car that sat in a carport for three winters, a project bought sight unseen, an estate car headed for the wrecker. Tell us how it sits now and we bring what it needs.

How we move a car that does not run
How it sitsWhat we doExtra
Rolls and steers, will not startWinch it straight up the deck with someone at the wheelNone
Rolls but will not steerWheel dollies under the front, then winch on$45
Brakes seized, wheels lockedSkates under each wheel, slow winch, extra time$75
Flat tiresWe bring an air tank and try to inflate firstNone

Please clear a path to the car and let us know about gravel, slopes or low branches. If we cannot reach it safely, we say so on the phone rather than on your driveway.
