Accessibility statement

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline that changes colour to stay visible on the dark green areas.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast. The red behind our buttons and prices is a deeper shade than the red in our logo so the text on it stays readable.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones, like the stem dividers and the striped ribbons, are hidden from screen readers.
• Prices by size are in real tables with row and column headers, or in labelled lists, so a screen reader reads each size with its price.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• Pages reflow to one column on a phone without sideways scrolling, and hover effects stop when your device asks for reduced motion.

You never have to use the online form. Call or text (555) 555-0103, or email hello@brindlelane.example, and we will take your order with you.

Visiting the shop

There is one low step at the shop door. Call from the curb and we will bring your flowers out to you.

Known limitations

The order bar stays at the top of the screen as you scroll; on very short screens, or when zoomed in a long way, it stops following you so it doesn't cover the page. Some photo descriptions are brief. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell us.
