Seasonal garden care

Three visits a year for the gardens we planted

A new garden needs a steady hand for its first few seasons. We come back at the moments that matter, edit what's grown, and keep it close to the plan.

  1. Late April to May

    Spring cut-back

    • Cut last year's stems once the bees are out of them
    • Check for winter kill and chinook damage
    • Divide crowded clumps and fill gaps
    • Top up mulch and edge the beds

    Per visit, from$240

  2. Mid-July

    Mid-summer edit

    • Pull self-seeders where they've wandered
    • Deadhead what will flower again
    • Stake anything flattened by hail
    • Note what to move or add in fall

    Per visit, from$210

  3. Late September to October

    Fall tidy

    • Leave seed heads and grasses standing for birds
    • Cut back only what turns to mush
    • Plant or move anything noted in July
    • Water deeply before freeze-up

    Per visit, from$240

"From" prices cover a garden of up to about 40 m²; larger gardens are priced on the walk. CAD, plus GST.

All three visits, booked for the season

We hold your dates in March, before the calendar fills, and send a short note after each visit about what we did and what's coming.

Why only our gardens

We know what we planted, and why

Care is easier to get right when you drew the plan. We know which seedlings are meant to spread, which grass looks dead until June, and which gap is waiting for a plant from the list. We don't take on general maintenance or lawn mowing for other gardens, which keeps our season calendar honest.

Do I have to book care?

No. Every plan comes with a first-year care sheet, and many people look after their gardens themselves.

Can you water while I'm away?

Not as a regular service. In the first summer after planting we'll check on it once if a long dry spell hits, and tell you what we see.

What about the lawn and the hedges?

We don't mow or shear hedges. If you need someone, ask and we'll pass on names.

When do you invoice?

After each visit, by email, with a short list of what we did.
