Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast. The ochre accent colour is darkened wherever it is used for text.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones, like the scallop border and the tier drawings, are hidden from screen readers.
• Tier sizes and servings are written out in text, not only drawn.
• The cake size table has a caption and labelled rows and columns, and scrolls on its own on a small screen.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, hints are linked to their fields, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• The gentle slide-in of sections stops when your device asks for reduced motion.
