Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website and reach us.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.
What we have done on this website
- A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast, including the light text on the burgundy sections.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
- Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones, like the rose window drawing, are hidden from screen readers.
- The hall floor plan has a written description for screen readers.
- Service times, fees and hall rates are in proper lists and labelled tables, not pictures of text.
- A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
- Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
- The one gentle movement as sections appear stops when your device asks for reduced motion.
Reaching us without the form
You never have to use the online form. Call (555) 555-0121, or email office@stcolumba.example, and we will take your request with you.
The building
The parish hall and the side chapel have a level entrance on the Charlotte Street side, and the hall has an accessible washroom. Large-print service leaflets are available at the door on Sundays.
Known limitations
The photographs are illustrative, and their descriptions are brief rather than detailed. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell us.
