Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website and reach us.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

  • A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast.
  • Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
  • Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
  • A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
  • The price list is a real table with column and row headers, so screen readers read each price with its service and time.
  • The street map has a written description, and the address, door, parking and hours are given in words beside it.
  • The weekly chart of quiet times says each day’s hours and status in words; the coloured bars are extra.
  • The questions open and close with standard buttons that work by keyboard and screen reader.
  • Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
  • The one small animation, on the home page’s main heading, stops when your device asks for reduced motion.

Reaching us without the form

You never have to use the online form. Call or text (555) 555-0156, or email hello@oldharbourbarber.example, and we will take your request with you.

Known limitations

The photographs are illustrative, and their descriptions are brief rather than detailed. The map is a simple drawing, not to scale. If you find anything on this website that is hard to use, please tell us.
