Small jobs, done properly.
I'm Owen Marlow. I hang, mount, assemble, patch and fix the small things on your list, around Wolfville and the Annapolis Valley. When you call, I'm the one who picks up.
No call centre. No "someone will get back to you."
- Mon–Sat, 8 am to 6 pm
- Free quotes, usually same day
- I leave it cleaner than I found it
1person, start to finish
The little things that never make it off the list
Most of my work is a few hours here and there: things that are too small for a contractor and too fiddly for a Saturday afternoon.
If it's on your "someday" list, just ask.
-
Hanging & mounting
TVs, mirrors, shelves, curtain rods, heavy art. Into drywall, plaster or brick, with the right anchor and level the first time.
Often under an hour -
Flat-pack assembly
Beds, wardrobes, desks, cribs and bookcases from IKEA, Wayfair or Structube. I bring the right bits and take the cardboard away.
1 to 4 hours -
Doors & drawers
Doors that stick or won't latch, loose hinges, drawers off their runners, new handles and knobs that line up.
Often under an hour -
Caulking & grout
Tubs, showers, sinks and backsplashes: old caulk out, mould cleaned, a neat new bead in. Tired grout refreshed, a cracked tile swapped.
2 to 3 hours, plus drying -
Drywall patches
Doorknob holes, ripped-out anchors, nail pops and dents. Patched, sanded smooth and ready to paint, or painted to match if you have the can.
Two short visits -
Small carpentry
Baseboard and trim, a loose stair rail, a shelf cut to fit an odd alcove, a fence gate that has stopped latching.
Quoted per job -
Draught-proofing
Door sweeps, weatherstripping and window caulking, done in the fall before the wind off the Minas Basin finds every gap.
1 to 3 hours -
The odd-jobs list
The high smoke-alarm battery, a toilet seat, new blinds, childproof latches, the sagging closet rod. Book a half day and we work down the list.
Half or full day
What I don't do
- Electrical wiring, new outlets or light fixtures
- Plumbing that means opening up pipes
- Gas, roofs, or anything that needs a permit
Those need a licensed trade. If your job is one of them, I'll tell you straight away and pass on the name of someone good.
Three steps, no runaround
No booking portal, no waiting for a dispatcher to call you back. Just you, me and the list.

Send me the list
Call, text or use the form below. A photo of the problem tells me more than a paragraph: the wobbly railing, the hole in the wall, the box the wardrobe came in.
photos welcome! -
Get a clear price
Small jobs get a fixed price by text, usually the same day. Bigger lists get an honest hourly estimate and a time slot I'll actually keep.
no surprises on the bill -
I fix it and tidy up
I turn up when I said I would, put down a drop cloth, do the job properly and take the packaging and offcuts with me. You pay when you're happy.
then I'm out of your hair
What it costs, up front
I'd rather you knew the numbers before I knock. Single small jobs get a fixed price; longer lists are by the hour, and I tell you how many hours I expect.

I keep my area small on purpose. It's how I can be on time, and how I can pop back for the paint coat without charging you for the drive.

Somewhere else in the Valley? Ask anyway. For a full day's work I'll usually make the trip.
Hi, I'm Owen.
I've been the person friends call when a shelf comes down for as long as I can remember. Before Marlow Fix-It I spent twelve years backstage, building and repairing sets for touring shows, where the only rule was that everything had to work by curtain-up.
Now I do the same thing for houses in the Valley. It's just me: I answer the phone, I give you the price, I do the work, and I'm the one you call if anything isn't right. If I'm going to be more than ten minutes late, you'll get a text before it happens.
I'm not a contractor and I won't pretend to be one. When a job needs an electrician, a plumber or a permit, I'll say so.

Good questions
The ones I get asked most. Anything else, call or text and ask me directly.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes, the $65 call-out, which covers my first half hour on site. A lot of single jobs, like a mirror or a sticking door, come in at that or close to it.
How soon can you come?
Usually within a week. Small urgent things, like a door that won't lock, I'll often fit in the same or next day.
Do I need to be home?
For the first visit, yes, or another adult. After that, plenty of people leave a key or a door code, and I text photos of the finished work before I leave.
Can you pick up the materials?
Yes. I charge what I paid and hand you the receipt. If you'd rather buy them yourself, I'll text you exactly what to get, down to the screw length.
Do you do electrical or plumbing?
Not anything that needs a licence: no wiring, no new outlets or fixtures, no opening up pipes. I'm happy to swap a toilet seat or a showerhead, re-caulk, or fix a cabinet under the sink. For the rest I'll pass on a name I trust.
Is one tiny job worth calling you for?
Yes. Though it's worth looking around the house first: if there are two or three small things, they'll often all fit in the same half hour.
Do you work weekends?
Saturdays, yes. Sundays I'm off, unless it's a genuine emergency like a door that won't close.
How do I pay?
When the job is done and you've had a look: Interac e-Transfer, debit or credit by tap, or cash. You'll get an emailed receipt with HST shown.
