Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard behind Canada’s accessibility laws.

What we have done on this website

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
• Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast, on the cream, sage and terracotta backgrounds alike.
• The rates are written as plain lists with the amount beside each item, not as an image or a table that scrolls sideways.
• The room list, rates and neighbourhoods are real text, so a screen reader reads them in order.
• Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, so they are easy to tap.
• Every meaningful image has a text description; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
• A clear heading structure and page landmarks on every page.
• Every form field has a visible label, required fields say so in words, and the result of sending the form is announced.
• Animation stops when your device asks for reduced motion. The only motion is one gentle fade on the rates note.
