You did the spreadsheets, the tastings and the seating chart. Hand them to me a few weeks out and spend your wedding day as a guest at your own party, with your family off the clock too.

What coordination covers
Two ways to hand it over
The difference is when I step in. Either way, on the day the vendors call me, not you or your mother.
Month-of
I take over six weeks before the wedding
I become the contact for every vendor from the handover meeting on
I read your contracts and flag what's missing (load-in times, overtime, who brings the cake knife)
Three meetings with you, one of them at the venue
I write the day's timeline and send it to every vendor
I run the rehearsal
Up to 12 hours on the day, from getting ready to load-out
or
Day-of
I take over three weeks before the wedding
One handover meeting, where you walk me through your plan
I confirm every vendor in the final week
A venue walkthrough with you or the venue manager
I write the day's timeline and send it to every vendor
Up to 10 hours on the day, from getting ready to load-out
The rehearsal is an add-on
What I don't do: full planning or design. If you haven't booked a venue yet, or you want someone to build the look from scratch, you need a full planner. Ask me and I'll tell you who I'd call.
Packages
Three packages, prices up front
Prices are in Canadian dollars, before HST. A 30% retainer holds your date and the rest is due two weeks before.
Day-of coordination
$1,350
For couples who have it all booked and want one person in charge on the day.
Add-ons: rehearsal with day-of $200 · a second coordinator for 120 guests or more $350 · travel past an hour from Halifax $120
How it works
From the first call to the last dance
Talk
A free half-hour call
You tell me what you've booked and what's keeping you up at night. I tell you honestly whether you need me, and which package fits.
Hand it over
The handover meeting
Bring the spreadsheets, the contracts and the Pinterest board. I leave with a binder, you leave with one less job. From here, vendors call me.
Let go
The day itself
I'm there before the hair is done and I leave after the last song, once the gifts, cards and your grandmother's cake stand are in the right car.
A sample wedding day
What you see, and what I'm doing
A Saturday in August: a 4:00 ceremony at a barn venue near Chester, 110 guests, dinner and dancing in the same building. Your timeline will look different, but the right-hand side never changes much.
every vendor gets a printed copy
Hair and makeup at the inn
I arrive, steam the dress, pin the boutonnières and check the florist delivered all six.
The photographer arrives
I hand over the shot list and the names of every family member in the group photos.
First look by the pond
I keep the path clear of guests and the dog, and hold the bouquet.
Guests arrive
Programs out, ushers briefed, the officiant's microphone tested twice.
The ceremony
I line up the procession and cue the musician. The rings are in my pocket until the best man needs them.
Cocktails and family photos
I gather each group before the photographer calls for it, so it takes 20 minutes, not 50.
Dinner
I walk the caterer through dietary cards and make sure the two of you actually eat.
Speeches
Speakers know their order and their time. The DJ has the cue for each.
First dance, then the floor opens
Lights down, cake cut, late-night poutine timed for when the dancing slows.
The last dance and the send-off
Sparklers lit, then I pack the cards, gifts and your décor and check the venue off with the manager.
What's in the emergency kit
A tackle box for weddings
It comes to every wedding and elopement, and it's restocked after each one. Most of it never gets used. The day you need the clear umbrellas, you'll be glad they're there.
For the outfits
Needle and thread in white, ivory and black
Safety pins, bobby pins and fashion tape
A steamer and a lint roller
Stain pen and baby wipes
For the people
Blister plasters and flat shoes for the bride's party
Tissues, mints, sunscreen and bug spray
Phone chargers for every kind of phone
Water and granola bars for the two of you
For the venue
Scissors, zip ties, gaffer tape and fishing line
A long-reach lighter for the candles
An extension cord
A card box, in case yours is in someone's trunk
For Nova Scotia
Six clear umbrellas
Pashminas for a cold sea breeze
Towels, for when the fog rolls in
Clothespins to hold down the programs
About me
Hi, I'm Tess. I run weddings for people who planned their own.
It started with my sister's barn wedding in Windsor. She planned every detail and then spent the morning on the phone with a lost florist. I took her phone away, and that was the job I've been doing ever since.
I'm not a designer and I won't try to change your plan. My work is quieter: I know the venues around Halifax and down the South Shore, I know which roads flood, and I'll have read your timeline more times than you have.
I take one wedding a weekend, so the person you meet on the first call is the person holding your rings.
Every wedding gets its own binder, and it lives in the kit on the day.
Elopements happen where I'd want to get married: on the rocks at Peggy's Cove before the tour buses, on the water at Mahone Bay, or on a Lunenburg wharf.
Questions
Things couples ask me
Do you do full planning or design?
No. I work with couples who have already booked their venue and vendors. If you're earlier than that, I'll point you to full planners in Halifax I trust.
Where do you travel?
Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and the South Shore as far as Lunenburg are included. Past an hour's drive from Halifax, including the Annapolis Valley, there's a flat $120 travel fee.
What if it rains?
We make a rain plan at the handover, with a time on the morning when we decide. I bring six clear umbrellas either way.
Do you work with our vendors, or bring your own?
Yours. I'll suggest people if you have a gap, but you're never asked to switch anyone.
Do you handle the marriage licence for an elopement?
You apply for the Nova Scotia licence yourselves, but I'll send you the steps and a reminder of when to do it, and I'll make sure it's signed and in your officiant's hands on the day.
How far ahead should we book?
Summer Saturdays fill first, often a year ahead. Fridays, Sundays and October dates usually have room closer in. Ask about your date and I'll tell you straight.

Tell me about your day
Fill this in and it comes straight to me. I read every one myself and reply within two working days to set up the free call.
