Walks, visits and sleepovers, close to home
We are two sitters and a walker who live on this side of Hamilton. We walk your dog on streets we know, look in on your cat while you are away, and stay the night so your pets keep their own beds.
- Photo update after every visit
- Keys kept in a lockbox
- No more than four dogs in a group
Who we are
Small on purpose
Hearth & Hound is three people, not a dispatch app. Whoever meets your dog at the meet and greet is the one who walks it. If they are off sick, it is one of the other two, who has already read your notes.
We keep the client list short enough that every visit fits in a real day, with time to wipe muddy paws and refill the water bowl before we lock up. We started in Westdale, spread to Dundas because the valley trails were too good to ignore, and added Ancaster when a client moved up the hill and asked us to come too.
Four ways we help
Book one, or mix them: plenty of dogs do weekday walks with us and a sleepover when their people travel.

Always first
Every new client starts with a free meet and greet
We come to your home for about half an hour. Your pets get to sniff us out first, you walk us through the routine, and we write it all down: where the leash hangs, which treats are allowed, which door sticks. If it is not a good fit for either side, we say so. No charge, no pressure.
Book yoursWhat we go over
- The daily routine and how much food, when
- Medication, and how your pet likes to take it
- The lockbox, the alarm and the tricky back door
- Your vet, and someone we can call if we cannot reach you
- Anything your pet dislikes: bikes, hats, the mail carrier
Where we go
We keep a tight map so nobody is rushing across the city between visits. Just outside these areas? Ask. If it fits between our regular visits, we will say yes.
- Westdale
- Around the village, Churchill Park and the edge of Cootes Paradise, plus Ainslie Wood and Kirkendall.
- Dundas
- Downtown, the streets climbing toward the Peak, and the Spencer Gorge side of town.
- Ancaster
- The old village and the neighbourhoods off Wilson Street, down to Meadowlands.
Going away, back at the office, or just busy?
Tell us about your pets and when you need us. We will call to set up the meet and greet.
