Leaks
Water travels, so I trace a ceiling stain back up through the attic and across the roof until I find the real entry point. Then I fix that, not the spot under the stain.
Roof repair · Thunder Bay, Ontario
I'm Gord. I work alone, with a truck and a set of ladders. I find where the water is getting in, send you photos of it, and fix it for a price we have agreed first.
Most calls are one small thing that has been letting water in for a while. Here is what I take on.
Water travels, so I trace a ceiling stain back up through the attic and across the roof until I find the real entry point. Then I fix that, not the spot under the stain.
Missing, lifted or cracked shingles replaced and sealed down. After a wind storm I walk the whole roof, not just the corner you noticed.
Chimneys, vents, pipes and skylights. The metal and sealant around them is where most leaks start, and where most quick fixes fail.
Cleared, resealed at the joints, and re-hung where the spikes have pulled out. Packed troughs push water back under the edge shingles.
One section at a time, up to about 10 by 10 feet: a valley, the patch behind a chimney, an old repair that has given up.
Full roof replacements. If your roof is at the end of its life, I will say so with photos, and point you to a roofer who does whole roofs.
Steep slate roofs. They need a specialist crew and equipment I do not carry.
You see what I see, with photos, before you agree to anything.
You send the form or phone. I ask where the stain is and when it shows up: every rain, only in the spring thaw, only with a west wind. Then I book the first dry morning I can.
I go up, find it, and photograph it before I touch anything. You get the pictures by text or email the same day, with a plain note of what is wrong and why.
A fixed price for the repair, usually quoted from the roof. Your $95 call-out comes off it. If you say no, you have paid for the look and you keep the photos.
Most repairs are done on the same visit if the weather holds. Bigger ones I book for the next dry day.
You get photos of the finished work and a note of anything else I noticed that may need attention later. I do not push extras.
Typical prices for common repairs, in Canadian dollars. HST is extra. The real number depends on pitch, height and access, and I confirm it after I have seen the roof.

I work in Thunder Bay and about 40 km around it: Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah, Neebing and Kakabeka Falls. Further out, ask. If it is a long drive for a small job, I will tell you that before I book it.
If the weather turns on the day, I phone to rebook. You are not charged the call-out for a visit I did not make.
Tell me what you can see. The more exact you are about where the water shows up, the faster I find it.
If water is coming in right now, phone instead: (555) 555-0174. This form only sends me your details. It does not book a time; I phone you to set one.
