The approach

I would rather you forget I was there.

Most of what I photograph is never posed. The hour before the ceremony when nobody quite knows what to do with their hands. A speech that goes off script. Your aunt kicking off her shoes at ten o'clock. I stay a few steps back and let the day run the way it was going to.

There are about twenty minutes of direction in a full day: the family photos and a short walk with the two of you while the light is low. Everything else is just what happened.
