Who it's for

Talusridge sees people who put a lot of weekly hours into training and want a table that fits around them. Three kinds of training come through the door most.

Trail runners

Long days on climbs and descents put the load on calves, quads and hips. Sessions land after a big Sunday, in the middle of a block, or a few days before a start.

Road runners

Half marathon blocks, speed work, a spring marathon. Sessions are planned around your long run and your taper, with early mornings before work.

Lifters

Squat, bench and deadlift days, or a general lifting block. Evening slots fit after the gym, and heavier legs and back sessions can sit away from your big days.

Short pre-race session. How race week works

Deep tissue

Slow, firm pressure through the larger muscle groups, spending time where you ask for it. A full session with no particular sport in mind.

Sports massage

Aimed at the areas your training loads: calves, quads, hips and glutes for runners, back and shoulders for lifters. Brief assisted stretching if you want it.

  • Pressure is yours to set, and you can change it at any point.
  • Early mornings and evenings cost the same as midday.
  • Receipts are emailed after each session.
  • Prices are in Canadian dollars; taxes are added where they apply.

Race week

A start line changes the schedule. In race week sessions get shorter and lighter, and the longer work comes after.

  1. 2 to 4 days out

    Short session

30 minutes at $65, with lighter pressure. Book it a few days ahead of your start, not the day before.

  2. Last 48 hours

    Hands off

No sessions booked in the final two days. Rest, eat, pack.

  3. Race day

    Start line

Your day. Nothing to book, nothing to bring.

  4. From day two after

    Longer session

60 or 90 minutes at the usual prices, with pressure kept to what you can comfortably take.

Put your start date in the timing note when you send a request, and the open times around it come back to you.

Stage races and multi-day events: say so in the same note and the gaps get planned with you.

How a session goes

A 60-minute session, start to finish. A 45 trims the middle; a 90 gives each area more time.

  1. 0:00

Shoes off at the top of the stairs

A minute or two on how training has gone this week and what you'd like the hour spent on. The short version is fine.

  2. 0:05

    Face down

Back, hips and glutes first, under a sheet, with oil or without. Only the area being worked is uncovered.

  3. 0:25

    Legs

Calves, hamstrings and quads, one side then the other. Say "more" or "less" whenever you like.

  4. 0:45

    Face up

Neck and shoulders, then a few minutes of assisted stretching if you want it.

  5. 0:55

    Sit up slowly

Water, a minute to get your feet under you, and a look at the calendar for your next time.

What Talusridge doesn't do

  • No diagnosis

Talusridge doesn't tell you what is going on inside a knee, a calf or a back.

  • No taping

No kinesiology tape, no strapping, no braces.

  • No rehab programs

No exercise plans and no homework. That belongs to your coach or your physiotherapist.

See someone else first

Anything new, sharp or swollen goes to a physiotherapist or a physician before it comes anywhere near this table. Book with them, and come back once they have seen it.

Not sure whether something counts? Call and talk it through, and expect to be pointed to a physiotherapist or physician.

Early mornings and evenings are the point: the room is open around the training day, not instead of it. Race weekends can shift things, so ask.
